Brighton & Hove Albion vs Liverpool

Amex Stadium is the venue as Brighton & Hove Albion and Liverpool go head-to-head in an exciting Premier League fixture.

A six-game winless streak threatened to disrupt Brighton’s season (D2, L4), yet the Seagulls have since got back on track with two victories and a draw in their last three outings. A 2-0 triumph over Wolverhampton in the previous round all but secured a third top-half finish in four years for Brighton. However, a return to European football looks unlikely after Crystal Palace won the FA Cup, rendering Brighton’s first clean sheet in ten league matches futile. Nonetheless, the hosts will aim to finish the season on a high, especially after losing just one of their last seven home league fixtures (W4, D2). Furthermore, they’ve fared reasonably well in this match-up, beating Liverpool twice in their four most recent meetings at the Amex (W2, D1, L1).

On the other hand, Liverpool have seemingly lost momentum since being crowned champions. After a 3-1 defeat at Chelsea, they squandered a two-goal cushion to draw 2-2 at home against Arsenal last weekend, meaning they can no longer hit a 90-point landmark. With nothing but pride left to play for, the Reds will at least try to avoid back-to-back away league losses for the first time since April 2023. Simply finding the net would see the Anfield outfit score in all top-flight away matches in a season for the first time in club history, so motivation shouldn’t be lacking.  Encouragingly, the visitors haven’t lost their final away league game in the past six Premier League campaigns (W4, D2).
