Everton vs Manchester City
Goodison Park is the venue as Everton and Manchester City go head-to-head in a handsomely-looking Premier League encounter.
Everton’s renaissance under boss David Moyes shows no signs of slowing down, with the Toffees beating top-four hopefuls Nottingham Forest 1-0 last weekend. That result solidified the club’s position in the Premier League mid-table, marking their 11th unbeaten league match in 13 under the ex-West Ham manager (W5, D6). Interestingly, only five sides have picked up more Premier League points than Everton’s 21 since Moyes’ return to the club. However, Manchester City’s visit could disrupt the harmony at Goodison, where Everton last beat this opposition in 2017, going winless in 15 consecutive home and away H2Hs since (D3, L12). But it’s no all lost for the hosts yet, as they haven’t lost any of their last six home league outings (W2, D4).
On the other hand, Manchester City will be out to return to winning ways after a scoreless draw against crosstown rivals Manchester United on their last league travel and avenge a dismal 1-1 stalemate from December’s reverse fixture. Pep Guardiola’s charges bounced back from a two-goal deficit to thrash Crystal Palace 5-2 on home turf last weekend, extending their unbeaten run in all competitions to five matches (W3, D2) while climbing to fifth in the Premier League table. However, consistency has eluded them on the road, where they’ve only won once in their last four league matches (D1, L2), including back-to-back scoring blanks. Another would see them go three away games in the Premier League without scoring for the first time since December 2015.
