Lion City vs DPMM

Bishan Stadium sets the stage for the return leg of a closely contested Singapore Cup semi-final tie between Lion City and DPMM. 

Lion City fought back twice to beat DPMM 3-2 in the first leg, extending their unbeaten H2H streak to five games (W4, D1). High scoring has been a common theme in that impressive sequence, with the Sailors netting 2+ goals on four occasions, though the only exception came in their most recent meeting at this stadium (0-0). Aleksandar Rankovic’s side cannot take anything for granted, considering they’ve emerged victorious from only one of their last four competitive outings (D1, L2), failing to find the net twice in that period. Furthermore, they head into proceedings on a three-game losing streak on home turf, with each defeat coming via a single-goal margin, highlighting the potential for a closely fighting encounter. 

Banking on Lion City’s underwhelming home stretch, visiting DPMM will be out to post their first H2H victory since July 2023 and secure a place in the grand final. That first-leg loss remains the only blemish on the visitors’ near-flawless seven-game run in all competitions (W6, L1), as they bounced back with a 3-2 away league win over Hougang United. That result marked their third consecutive triumph on the road – all of which saw them score 3+ goals, effectively rendering this narrow deficit irrelevant. That said, Jamie McAllister’s men have failed to get on the scoresheet on their last two visits to Lion City’s home ground (D1, L1) since that 3-1 victory two years ago.
