Manchester United vs Leicester City
A place in the FA Cup round of 16 is on the line as Manchester United and Leicester City go head-to-head at Old Trafford.
Manchester United’s FA Cup journey commenced with a spirited victory against bitter rivals Arsenal on penalties, and it’s worth noting they defied a numerical disadvantage to progress from that tie. Ruben Amorim’s charges have since won four of their six outings in all competitions (L2) but did slip to a 2-0 home loss to Crystal Palace last weekend. That was shockingly their fifth defeat in eight competitive games at Old Trafford since the start of December (W3), with four of them seeing the Red Devils lose via multi-goal margins. However, Leicester City’s visit should be ‘another day in the office’ for United, especially considering they’ve already beaten this opposition twice this season – each time via a three-goal margin. Moreover, they’ve bagged 3+ goals in their last three home H2Hs (W3).
On the other hand, a 4-0 thrashing at the hands of Everton last weekend didn’t aid Leicester City’s dire situation in the Premier League, leaving them two points from safety. That was also their third multi-goal margin defeat ‘to nil’ in four matches since thumping second-tier QPR 4-0 in the previous FA Cup round (W1). Things do not look much better on the road, where the Foxes have lost seven of their last nine competitive games (W1, D1), with the only win seeing them come from behind to beat Tottenham 2-1 in late January. Alarmingly, six of those seven defeats saw Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side concede at least three goals, suggesting Man Utd’s frontline could have a field day.
