A place in the Serie A top four is potentially on the line as Roma and Fiorentina go head-to-head at the Stadio Olimpico.

Only two points adrift of fourth-placed Juventus, Claudio Ranieri’s charges head into proceedings amid their best unbeaten streak in Serie A since 2009/10. Interestingly, Ranieri was in charge back then. The veteran manager has inspired Roma to 40 points in 2025 – more than any other side in Europe’s top-five leagues since the turn of the calendar year. Defensive solidity has been the main ingredient behind Roma’s purple patch, with ‘I Giallorossi’ racking up nine clean sheets in that sequence while only conceding eight times.

Meanwhile, visiting Fiorentina trail their hosts by a single point ahead of the kick-off. Yet, tired legs could throw a spanner in the works following an exhausting 2-1 defeat to Real Betis in the first leg of their UEFA Conference League semi-final tie. History beckons for La Viola this weekend as they could pull off only their second league double over Roma in 60 years after a scintillating 5-1 romping in October’s reverse fixture. Further confidence comes from Fiorentina’s six-game unbeaten streak in Serie A (W4, D2). However, the visitors’ troubling away form offers a note of caution, with Raffaele Palladino’s side winning just one of their last five away league games (D1, L3).
