Roma vs Monza

Stadio Olimpico sets the stage for a high-stakes Serie A showdown between Roma and Monza.

Unbeaten in nine Serie A games (W6, D3), including a narrow 1-0 at Parma last weekend, Roma head into proceedings in high spirits, bidding to close down a five-point deficit on sixth-placed Fiorentina. Lifting the Europa League trophy offers ‘I Giallorossi’ an alternate route into European football next season after a 3-2 win against Porto propelled them to the round of 16. Meanwhile, Claudio Ranieri’s charges have excelled in 2025, with no Serie A side picking up more points than Roma’s 17 since the turn of the year. Furthermore, their defensive resilience has been off the charts, as they conceded a league-low five goals in that period. Victories in eight of their last nine home outings in all competitions (D1) also suggest their unbeaten top-flight record against Monza (W3, D2) should stay intact.

On the other hand, Monza’s quest to secure a fourth consecutive season in Serie A is in tatters, even though a scoreless draw against Lecce last time out halted their dreadful four-game losing streak. Nailed to the bottom of the table, the visitors trail 17th-placed Parma by nine points, highlighting the importance of piecing together a substantial winning streak. However, they’ve fared disastrously on the road this season, with only Venezia (4) amassing fewer away points than Monza’s seven in Serie A (W1, D4, L7). Moreover, they’ve lost their last five league matches on hostile turf since the start of December, ominously conceding 2+ goals on each occasion.
